Lorenz Furtwängler Söhne Mantel Clock Bim Bam Strike Runs Strikes Mahogany Case
Antique Lorenz Furtwangler and Sohne. Bim Bam Strike Runs & Strikes. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! This clock has a beautiful mahogany wood case. All the trim work is there as are the brass cannonball legs. The wood case has some minor finish loss and crazing. The clock was probably made in the late 1800s to mid 1910s by a German clock maker, Lorenz Furtwangler and Sohne. Also notes Clock Factory on the back of the movement and the case. The rear wood door is securely attached to the case by two brass hinges. The knob is even still with it. The fabric on the side panels and back door is old and weathered. Nice looking gold colored metal clock face. The black numbers and minute marks are inciside onto the face. Also, a beautiful applied gold colored pieces on all four corners of the clock face. The clock was distributed by J E Caldwell, a fine jewelry store that once operated in Philadelphia, PA. The black clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. Good l00king brass movement in the case. Has the maker mark noted on the back brass plate of the movement. This clock has an 8 day movement. The pendulum that came with it looks appropriate to the clock and is quite heavy. The clock comes with a vintage wind key. The 2 springs feel sound when keyed. Check out the nice 2wire gong unit that does a bim bam strike every 15 minutes and then strikes the hours on the hour. The clock has been running and striking since we acquired it. Just cleaned and oiled the pivot points on the back plate of the movement. The clock stands 15.5″ tall (14.5″ w/ handle down), by 10-3/16″ across, by 7-3/16″ wide. The clock face is 5.25 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. Chelsea Mantel Clock A Stowell & Company Boston. Runs & Strikes Cherry Wood Case Circa 1915. Nice Gong Wire Sound. Running & Striking Condition. A nicely done Chelsea mantel clock that was distributed thru A Stowell & Company. The wood case is just incredible. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself. Nice looking clock here done by the Chelsea Clock Company. The Chelsea Clock Company is an American clock manufacturing company founded in 1897. The company continues to build and repair clocks at their corporate headquarters in Chelsea, Massachusetts. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don’t have the overhead that the higher end houses and galleries pass on to their clients. The Chelsea Clock Case is in very nice condition. Of Boston, MA as noted on the face of the clock. Also, has Chelsea noted on the clock face. The brownish red colored case (may be cherry wood) is in very nice condition.. A chip out of the front of the left ledge at top of the clock case. Beautiful arched top above the two ledges fo the clock case. No cracks or splits to the case and all the wood case and trim is there. Some minor rub and wear to the clock case finish from use. The serial number on the Chelsea movement is 103774. That would date the movement to around the 1915 period. Nice silver colored tin face with incised numbers and marks on it. The concave glass over the face is intact, no cracks or blistering. The brass bezel (door) that holds the glass is sound as is the hinge. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. Chelsea name is on the clock face, and also impressed on the back plate of the clock movement. The gold colored most likely brass metal rear door is in place, securely on its’ hinge, and the black fabric is on the inside of it. The clock was in running and striking condition when we acquired. We have just oiled the bushing and pivot points. The clock strikes the hours on the hour, and one strike on the half hour. Beautifully rich wire gong sound. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order. The brass movement has the Chelsea name on it. The clock stands 10-3/8″ tall, by 7.25″ across, by 6 wide (by glass & rear door). The clock face is 4-5/8 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
