Seth Thomas Mahogany Tambour Case 2 Movement Clock 4 Rod Runs Strikes & Chimes
Seth Thomas Mahogany Tambour Case. 2 Movement Clock 4 Rod Strike. Runs Strikes and Chimes. 89M and 119A BrassMovements. Here is an opportunity to own a Seth Thomas Tambour Case Clock with a 4 Rod Westminster Chimes Strike that is in very nice condition. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Very unique one here. The clock dates to the mid 1910s period. This is one of the most exceptional condition clock cases that have seen in a long time. Very little wear and no crazing to the finish at all. Very well taken care of over the years, not one of your stored in the attic cases that shows heat damage. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don’t have the overhead that the higher end houses and galleries pass on to their clients. This clock was probably made in the mid 1910’s period. Not sure what model this is yet. You be the judge at to the clock’s age and the model number before acquiring. Nice solid wood mahogany case on this clock. Has a beautiful brownish gold finish to the case. In exceptional condition as noted earlier. No cracks, repairs or splits to the case that we can ascertain. The finish to the case does show some minor finish wear from time. See nothing on the inside of the case or the outside to show that the case was ever refinished at any time. The 8 day brass clock and chime movements appear to be in good condition. The three wind springs feel sound when keyed. The appropriate pendulum bob is with the clock. The chimes unit is a number 119A. The time/strike unit is a number 89M. The brass plates of the time and chimes’ units show some loss of finish from oiling and time over the years. The clock was made to chime every 15 minutes and then chimes, and strikes the number of hours on the hour. The chimes unit is to the Westminster chime sound. The clock is currently in running condition. Striking, and chiming as expected as well. The brass plate is in place to lift the strike hammers when you wish to silence the clock. The one strike hammer does not stay on top of the rod, still strikes as expected. The strike hammers doe need some adjustment for the rods to ring true when struck. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order. The face of the clock does show some moderate wear to the silver colored finish. Says “Sonora Chime” and “Made by Seth Thomas in USA” at the bottom of the face. The face is made of tin and has black colored incised numbers. Beautiful gold colored trim ring around the face. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The front bezel door is in place, and the beveled glass is there as well. No cracks or blistering to the glass. The rear wood door of the clock is still in place. The clock comes with the 4 original wood feet. The clock will come with a winding key. The clock stands 11.75″ tall, by 18-3/8″ across, by 8 wide (w/ beveled glass). The clock face is 5.5 across. This was definitely a quality clock made around 100 years ago. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. Seth Thomas Art Nouveau Style Case Clock with Label Reminder Alarm Model Running
Seth Thomas Art Nouveau Style Case Clock w/ Label Reminder Alarm Model Running. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself! Good old clock for one of you out there. This is Seth Thomas Wood Case clock. Has much of an older label on the back of the case. Says Reminder Alarm across the top of the label, which is probably the model. Not sure what model it is. Says Reminder Alarm on the label on the back, no clock listed by that in the models offered by Seth Thomas. Has a beautiful brown colored Art Nouveau look case on it. Great flat glass in the bezel over the face of the clock. The gold colored bezel is securely attached to the case. No cracking or blistering to the glass. Appears to be a paper or composite face on this clock. The hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The paper label is still attached to the back of the case as noted before. The wood case is all there. So is the metal trim on the front of the case. The finish on the case is in very nice shape. Some minor chipping to the finish and wood along the edges. Some scratching to the finish and wood case on the top. The rear door is still securely attached to the case by the hinges. Nice looking brass movement on this clock. Gave the rear plate pivots and bushings a cleaning and oiling. The three springs feel sound when keyed. The clock comes with a vintage wind key and a replacement pendulum bob comes with it. He clock is in running, and striking condition. The clock stands 14.5″ tall, by 11.75″ across, by 4-5/8 wide. The clock face is 4.5 across. Paper label is still on the inside of the door for running instructions as well. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
