Vintage Herschede Mantel Clock Mahogany Case Two Tone Finish No 5052 1925-1928
Serial number 64370 – My search results indicate that this serial number was manufactured between the years of 1925 and 1928. Everything about this HERSCHEDE is high quality. It is in proper working order and keeps time accurately. Are clear with the correct timing. There is a plaque attached to the back of the clock that indicates they had received a Grand Prize in 1915 at the Panama Pacific Exposition. This plaque appears on all Herschede clocks after 1915. It does not mean that the clock that it is attached to is the actual Grand Prize winner, it is just a form of advertising advising that they won the Grand Prize for their clocks. One last thing to be aware of. We had taken the clock in for cleaning and maintenance a few years ago. The individual placed a tape label on the inside of the back door and wrote our last name in marker. When the label was removed we realized the marker had bled through; so our name is now on the inside of the back door. I did not try removing it because I did not want to affect to finish. I just wanted you to be aware of it. The following came from a Herschede brochure about the clock: (image of clock in brochure can be seen in the photos of this listing). 5052 – Two-Tone Finish. Model 55 Pendulum Movement, hand wound. Eight day three-quarter DING-DONG strike. On “Symphony” Chimetone rods. Hour strikes on a single Chimetone rod. The movement is of very rugged construction. We use heavy rectangular plates 3 ¾ inches x 4? The shafts are of high-grade steel and all the pinions are solid cut, insuring a greater degree of accuracy and longer life than the lantern pinions generally used in clocks at this price. Are made of hard-rolled clock brass. Brass bezel, richly gilded; spun hand-silvered finish dial. Seth Thomas Mahogany Tambour Case 2 Movement Clock 4 Rod Runs Strikes & Chimes
Seth Thomas Mahogany Tambour Case. 2 Movement Clock 4 Rod Strike. Runs Strikes and Chimes. 89M and 119A BrassMovements. Here is an opportunity to own a Seth Thomas Tambour Case Clock with a 4 Rod Westminster Chimes Strike that is in very nice condition. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Very unique one here. The clock dates to the mid 1910s period. This is one of the most exceptional condition clock cases that have seen in a long time. Very little wear and no crazing to the finish at all. Very well taken care of over the years, not one of your stored in the attic cases that shows heat damage. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don’t have the overhead that the higher end houses and galleries pass on to their clients. This clock was probably made in the mid 1910’s period. Not sure what model this is yet. You be the judge at to the clock’s age and the model number before acquiring. Nice solid wood mahogany case on this clock. Has a beautiful brownish gold finish to the case. In exceptional condition as noted earlier. No cracks, repairs or splits to the case that we can ascertain. The finish to the case does show some minor finish wear from time. See nothing on the inside of the case or the outside to show that the case was ever refinished at any time. The 8 day brass clock and chime movements appear to be in good condition. The three wind springs feel sound when keyed. The appropriate pendulum bob is with the clock. The chimes unit is a number 119A. The time/strike unit is a number 89M. The brass plates of the time and chimes’ units show some loss of finish from oiling and time over the years. The clock was made to chime every 15 minutes and then chimes, and strikes the number of hours on the hour. The chimes unit is to the Westminster chime sound. The clock is currently in running condition. Striking, and chiming as expected as well. The brass plate is in place to lift the strike hammers when you wish to silence the clock. The one strike hammer does not stay on top of the rod, still strikes as expected. The strike hammers doe need some adjustment for the rods to ring true when struck. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order. The face of the clock does show some moderate wear to the silver colored finish. Says “Sonora Chime” and “Made by Seth Thomas in USA” at the bottom of the face. The face is made of tin and has black colored incised numbers. Beautiful gold colored trim ring around the face. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The front bezel door is in place, and the beveled glass is there as well. No cracks or blistering to the glass. The rear wood door of the clock is still in place. The clock comes with the 4 original wood feet. The clock will come with a winding key. The clock stands 11.75″ tall, by 18-3/8″ across, by 8 wide (w/ beveled glass). The clock face is 5.5 across. This was definitely a quality clock made around 100 years ago. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description. Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. Antique Opticians Case Mahogany Wood & 100s of Lenses French Made Saul Solo
Antique Opticians Case Mahogany Wood & 100s of Lenses Many Made by VTF of France. Belonged to Saul Solomon Lancaster PA Optician. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! Very interesting set of optician/optometrist lenses for your collection or decor needs here. Was once owned by a Saul Solomon of Lancaster, PA. The set probably dates to the 1930s to 1940s period, might be before then. This is not the examination lenses used in the office, but the actual lenses the optician would then use to fit into the frames that were selected by the customer. The mahogany case is intact and the hinged lid is still attached to the base of the case. The case is intact, no splits or cracks of the wood. The case has no lock. The right hinge is a little loose and could use a little tightening attention. There are hundreds of glass lenses in the case that has wooded slotted sections for the lenses. Most of the lenses have a paper label on it with blue ink. The size and magnification noted on the front and then the maker of the lenses VTF and France is on the back of the label. The Opticians/Optometrists case is 2-7/8″ tall, by 13-3/8″ across, by 10 wide. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Lorenz Furtwängler Söhne Mantel Clock Bim Bam Strike Runs Strikes Mahogany Case
Antique Lorenz Furtwangler and Sohne. Bim Bam Strike Runs & Strikes. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! This clock has a beautiful mahogany wood case. All the trim work is there as are the brass cannonball legs. The wood case has some minor finish loss and crazing. The clock was probably made in the late 1800s to mid 1910s by a German clock maker, Lorenz Furtwangler and Sohne. Also notes Clock Factory on the back of the movement and the case. The rear wood door is securely attached to the case by two brass hinges. The knob is even still with it. The fabric on the side panels and back door is old and weathered. Nice looking gold colored metal clock face. The black numbers and minute marks are inciside onto the face. Also, a beautiful applied gold colored pieces on all four corners of the clock face. The clock was distributed by J E Caldwell, a fine jewelry store that once operated in Philadelphia, PA. The black clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. Good l00king brass movement in the case. Has the maker mark noted on the back brass plate of the movement. This clock has an 8 day movement. The pendulum that came with it looks appropriate to the clock and is quite heavy. The clock comes with a vintage wind key. The 2 springs feel sound when keyed. Check out the nice 2wire gong unit that does a bim bam strike every 15 minutes and then strikes the hours on the hour. The clock has been running and striking since we acquired it. Just cleaned and oiled the pivot points on the back plate of the movement. The clock stands 15.5″ tall (14.5″ w/ handle down), by 10-3/16″ across, by 7-3/16″ wide. The clock face is 5.25 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. Ingraham Banjo Clock 37.5 Tall Runs & Strikes Nyanza Model. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Beautiful decorator piece to have in your home or office even if you do not run the clock. Good looking Antique Banjo Wall clock here. Made by the Ingraham Clock Company. The clock dates to around 1915. Beautiful mahogany wood case that still has a lot of its’ original elegance. There are two doors on the front of the clock case, the face and pendulum doors. Both securely attached to the case. The bezel door latch is in place and operates. The top finial and it’s base has come unglued from the clock case. Nice wood center rails with brass buttons affixed to them. The top of the case has a couple of splinter cracks in it from something done in the past. A metal rod that the brass colored pendulum bob hangs off of. Nice looking what appears to be the original pendulum bob. Nice intact front glass pieces on this case. All the glass that is in place is good, with with no blistering or cracks. The paint is coming off the center plate and the bottom plate due to age. The clock face is a reproduction paper one. The original tin one is no longer with the clock. The face is done in antique white with black numbering. Has Ingraham noted on the clock face. This clock would have been made in the United States in the early 1900s. He clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The strike and time parts of the movement are powered by spring winds. Has an 8 day brass movement. The springs feel sound when keyed. Has a rod strike. Strikes once on the half hour and the number of hours on the hour. The clock comes with a wind key. The clock stands 37.5″ tall (w/ finial in place), by 10.25″ across, by 5 wide. The clock face is 6-5/8. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. Antique Beehive Clock Mahogany Case Runs Strikes Unmarked Maker Germany
Antique Beehive Clock Mahogany Case Runs Strikes Unmarked Maker Germany. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! What makes this clock unique is the large face compared to the size of the case. This clock has a beautiful Beehive or Steeple look wood case on it. All the trim work is there as are the wood wafer legs. The case has some minor finish loss and crazing across the entire case. The clock was probably made in the early to mid 1910s by a German clock maker, maker is unknown. Clock case appears to be an oak, but clock is fairly light weight wise, so not quite sure what is going on here. Again, not sure what maker or model this clock is. The wood case is made of what appears to be oak. The rear wood door is securely attached to the case by two brass hinges. The knob is even still with it. Nice looking silver colored metal clock face. The black numbers and minute marks are placed onto the face. Also, a beautiful incised design around the entire clock face. The black hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The bezel is securely attached to the case by the hinge, a little tight at the hinge. The flat beveled glass is intact, no cracking or blistering. Good l00king brass movement in the case. Has no maker marks on the case, face or movement. This clock has an 8 day movement. The pendulum that came with it looks appropriate to the clock and is quite heavy. The clock comes with a vintage wind key. The 2 springs feel sound when keyed. Check out the nice wire gong unit. The clock has been running and striking since we acquired it. Just cleaned and oiled the pivot points on the back plate of the movement. The clock stands 11.75″ tall, by 10″ across, by 6.75 wide. The clock face is 7 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear.
