Because the sails are very thin metal and have never tarnished, it is assumed they are Silver970 as well. This piece is from an old estate of some artistic merit; there is no evidence the piece has ever been cleaned, so the lack of tarnish is telling, supporting the conclusion that the model is made from very pure silver. Vintage Japanese Sterling 960 Silver Sloop Sailboat In Wood Frame Glass Case

This is a Japanese vintage c. 1950’s sterling silver. 960 sailing sloop in a wood frame glass case. It is very intricately crafted with sails filled and gold rigging lines and gold top flag. Signed on the side by the Japanese maker, Seki (see picture 8). The base is made with 15 pieces of fitted hardwood. And the glass case is surrounded by a framework of 12 joined pieces of matching hardwood. Having been carefully displayed for over 65 years, this silver sailboat remains in excellent condition. The case measures 8″ wide by 9″ tall by 5 deep (20 x 23 x 12.5). The silver sailboat measures 6″ tall by 6″ wide (15 x 15 cm). A wonderfully detailed work of sailing art. You’ll love it. Men’s Dressing Case Silver & Cut Glass W. Leuchars c 1846

Victorian c oromandel wood is a fine grained grayish brown wood streaked with black. Its most popular use is for furniture and beautiful boxes such as this one and came from India and South east Asia. It became extinct as of the 20thc. This marvelous box is accented with b rass around the edges of the box with flush fitting campaign style handles on each side providing ease of carrying. You open the box to reveal 10 individual cut glass and silver plate lids there is a hallmark but we can’t make it out. The deep blue velvet back drops down to reveal a hidden compartment as seen in pics #4 -5. The label reads; To Her Majesty and Family – W. Leuchars – Piccadilly, London. When you can lift out the center tray you’ll find another area reserved for more personal items. As an added bonus there is a button on the back edge that you push to open the secret bottom drawer as seen in pic #6. Lovely detailing can be seen on all of the silver lids and they match perfectly. Each of the bottles as shown in photo #9 have the cut Star design on the bottoms. The box measures 12″ corner to corner x 9″ front to back x 7 high.
