Vintage Swartchild Clock Glass Wood Storage Case. Swartchild clock glass case with compartments arranged by size with gold/black size decals next to each compartment. The case was used to store replacement clock glass, and the size indicated is the diameter in inches. The cabinet is split at an angle down the front leaving two columns for storing the replacement clock glass. Each shelf has a number (such as 5½) for the size glass stored on the shelf. This case appears to have been originally attached to a larger case, but was sawn off of it sometime in its past. To improve the aesthetics we added molding around the base (where it had been sawed off) and replaced the back. The case has a lot of chips, dings and scratches and some of the size decals are damaged. The bottom has saw marks and some missing wood around the perimeter, but the molding hides nearly all of it. The middle of the bottom is flat and that combined with the molding we installed allows the case to stand wobble-free. The back is flat and with the addition of wall hangers it could also be hung on a wall. The part of the case that had what’s left of the Swartchild logo was cracked and near the bottom of the case, so it was removed prior to installing the base molding. However that piece will be included (loose) with the case. The main body of the case is made of hardwood, the back is pressboard (like the original). The shelves are Masonite and rest in grooves cut in the case. The shelves are a friction fit and some are looser than others. The larger shelves on the right are 3/4″ shorter than the depth of the cabinet, so there is a 3/4″ gap between the back of the shelves and the inside back of the case back. All shelves are removable.
