Wow folks, these beauties do not come to the market very often. Here is a nice soft wood cased Black Forest Wall Clock. Could be a wall clock or can just sit on a shelf. No hook on it right now to hang on a wall. Beautiful detailing to the carvings on the clock case. Not sure of the maker. The clock is most likely of German origination. Any help in identifying the maker of this clock would be appreciated. Your identity would be kept anonymous. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don’t have the overhead that the higher end houses and galleries pass on to their clients. The beautiful looking wood case with it’s carvings and details is quite eye catching. Has an angel’s wing on the left side of the clock. All sorts of flower detailing, shells, and scrolling as well. Looks like the right leg of the case got broke off at one time and re-glued. The repair is visible to the eye. We would estimate that this clock dates to the latter 1800s to early 1900s. The metal clock face bezel door is securely attached to the case by the hinges. The glass piece is no longer in the bezel. Nice looking clock face on this clock. Has a white background with a flowered design. The numbers and marking are done in black. The gold clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. Some wear to the finish of the face around the wind holes. Nice older brass movement here. Has the serial number “24353” on the back plate. Also, “64” at the bottom middle of the back plate as well. No maker’s mark on the movement. The wind springs feel sound when keyed. The clock has a french bell strike. Should strike once on the half hour, and the number of hours on the hour. The clock movement does have a nice beat to it when wound and sitting on a wall. Tight fit between the pendulum rod and the bell, will need some adjustments to be made. We have not had the clock long enough to set up and determine if running or striking correctly or not. The clock will come with a wind key.
