Here’s an experience I had with my KB Canham 12×20. The weather turned wet they have a saying up there: “If you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes” LOL; the weather never changed, it just got worse! , but I finished the shoot and came home to my Cabin in Shaver Lake, CA (about an hour drive at the time). The Camera needed to be Cleaned, Treated and Adjusted. Here is what I did: I removed the bellows and hung them fully extended (by their own weight) from a ladder over night, I then put out the Aluminum/Black Walnut Camera Frame on some towels to allow it to dry out. The next Day, the Bellows were dry and as if nothing had ever happened to them (as if they had never gotten wet) and with a tiny bit of “Olde English” Lemon Oil rubbed into the wood (for protection) the whole Camera looked new again (No warping or separation). I knew this would happen, and that’s why I didn’t mind staying in the rain with this Camera. Here’s another little tid-bit. If you use or plan to use a Ries Tripod when you shoot, you can shoot this Camera Vertically. I would make sure you use a Heavy duty Ries Tripod Head, and counter balance the Tripod with either rope tied to something (like a tree), weighted bags (like the ones used for light stands), an/or both. The locks are so sturdy, they will handle the added stress of the unorthodox set up, which really isn’t unorthodox for this Camera. I could go on, but you need to use this Camera for yourself.
