Antique Early 20th Century Violet Ray Vitalator with Glass Fixtures Wood Casing. This is Antique Early 20th Century Violet Ray Vitalator with Glass Fixtures Wood Casing. This an excellent piece of medical history. These were around in the early 20th century after being invented in the late 19th century. This particular Violet Ray was made by Ideal Home Electrical Appliances on Great Ormond Street, London. These were claimed to cure many ailments at the time. This Vitalator comes with four glass, shaped attachments, which slot into the Bakelite handle. This had a low current running through it, which was then stroked across the body in different areas. There are three dial knobs, which are intact and in excellent condition. These are also made from Bakelite. There is a metal plaque, which reads: VIOLET RAY, VITALATOR, THE WORLDS GREATEST REJUVENATOR. The power cables are intact. The casing is made from wood, which has acquired a stunning patina through time. This enhances the appearance of the case. The lid is hinged and has a metal clasp fastener.
