Antique Perfume Bottle London c 1800-1850 Treen Wood Case Apothecary Bottle

Mawson and Thompson treen apothecary case and original clear glass fitted bottle with stopper. This handsome container is stamped on the wooden top with the merchant’s name and London, England. The clear glass bottle was manufactured specifically to fit tightly into the wooden case and most likely was used for medicine or perfume while traveling. There are slight traces of brown liquid in the bottle, which appears to be perfume. The bottle itself is in perfect condition but the ground glass stopper has a large chip. There is still a tight seal so this can still be used to carry liquid. The wooden case is in very good condition, made in burl grain pear wood. It screw on to the base tight and straight. The only defect is a small chip on the bottom edge near the base. It is marked in pencil on the bottom “burl” and also 2 oz. The treen container is 4 1/2″ tall and 2″ inches in diameter.
