Antique Pressed Painted Wood Glass Clock Case Display Cabinet Shrine Cottagecore
Antique Pressed Painted Wood Glass Clock Case Display Cabinet Shrine Cottagecore. A charming antique pressed wood cabinet that was originally a mantle clock during the Victorian – Edwardian era. Someone removed the clock hardware and painted the wood pale yellow. Now, it’s perfect as a display cabinet, shrine, or it can even be restored to become a clock again. The cabinet was meant to stand on a mantle or other flat surface but it’s light enough so it could also be affixed to a wall. Carved wood with a pressed floral motif frames the cabinet. The cabinet door has a glass front with original Victorian gold floral and scroll artwork. It’s a unique piece that could be the focal point of any room. The interior of the cabinet is 13″ tall, 6 1/2″ wide, and 2 1/2 deep so it’s big enough to hold figurines or other items. The overall size of the piece is 19″ tall, 15 1/4″ wide and 4 5/8 in depth. The yellow paint was neatly applied to the pressed wood sections, but it appears that the cabinet door was painted red at some point and streaks of red can be seen through the yellow. The latch is missing from the door, but the door will stay closed on a level surface or a replacement latch can be added. The wood panel on the back of the panel has split down the center, a result of aging. There are also several small holes in the panel where the clock hardware was originally installed.
