Seth Thomas Mahogany Tambour Case 2 Movement Clock 4 Rod Runs Strikes & Chimes
Seth Thomas Mahogany Tambour Case. 2 Movement Clock 4 Rod Strike. Runs Strikes and Chimes. 89M and 119A BrassMovements. Here is an opportunity to own a Seth Thomas Tambour Case Clock with a 4 Rod Westminster Chimes Strike that is in very nice condition. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Very unique one here. The clock dates to the mid 1910s period. This is one of the most exceptional condition clock cases that have seen in a long time. Very little wear and no crazing to the finish at all. Very well taken care of over the years, not one of your stored in the attic cases that shows heat damage. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don’t have the overhead that the higher end houses and galleries pass on to their clients. This clock was probably made in the mid 1910’s period. Not sure what model this is yet. You be the judge at to the clock’s age and the model number before acquiring. Nice solid wood mahogany case on this clock. Has a beautiful brownish gold finish to the case. In exceptional condition as noted earlier. No cracks, repairs or splits to the case that we can ascertain. The finish to the case does show some minor finish wear from time. See nothing on the inside of the case or the outside to show that the case was ever refinished at any time. The 8 day brass clock and chime movements appear to be in good condition. The three wind springs feel sound when keyed. The appropriate pendulum bob is with the clock. The chimes unit is a number 119A. The time/strike unit is a number 89M. The brass plates of the time and chimes’ units show some loss of finish from oiling and time over the years. The clock was made to chime every 15 minutes and then chimes, and strikes the number of hours on the hour. The chimes unit is to the Westminster chime sound. The clock is currently in running condition. Striking, and chiming as expected as well. The brass plate is in place to lift the strike hammers when you wish to silence the clock. The one strike hammer does not stay on top of the rod, still strikes as expected. The strike hammers doe need some adjustment for the rods to ring true when struck. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order. The face of the clock does show some moderate wear to the silver colored finish. Says “Sonora Chime” and “Made by Seth Thomas in USA” at the bottom of the face. The face is made of tin and has black colored incised numbers. Beautiful gold colored trim ring around the face. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The front bezel door is in place, and the beveled glass is there as well. No cracks or blistering to the glass. The rear wood door of the clock is still in place. The clock comes with the 4 original wood feet. The clock will come with a winding key. The clock stands 11.75″ tall, by 18-3/8″ across, by 8 wide (w/ beveled glass). The clock face is 5.5 across. This was definitely a quality clock made around 100 years ago. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description. Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. So again, ask all questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the clock on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it. Antique Junghans 3 Wind Mantel Clock Westminster Chimes Rounded Top Case Runs
Antique Junghans 3 Wind Mantel Clock Westminster Chimes Rounded Top Case. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Very unique Junghans clock case here. The clock probably dates to the 1910 to 1915 period. Check out the beautiful rounded top on the clock case. The case is all intact, no missing pieces. Some minor finish loss to the case. The rear wood door is intact and securely attached to the case by the hinges. Some paint specks in places. The brass wafer legs are still in place. A hairline crack run length wise to the bottom piece of the wood case. Some wear and tear and loss of finish to the case, most notably along the edges and corners. The wood case has been wiped down, could still use a good cleaning. Nice mahogany case on this clock. Some crazing to the finish in places. The clock face is silver with black numbers. Then the rest of the plate the face is on is gold colored. Has a great incised design of flowering and scrolls on the metal face that has a gold colored lacquer on it. Some loss of finish around the wind holes. No grommets around the wind holes, don’t think there ever were any. The bezel front wood door is securely attached to the case by the hinges. Same with the back door. The glass in the bezel is intact, no cracking or blistering. The glass does need to be secured more with tacks, as loose in door now. The brass movement looks good. This is the B11 model. “140” is incised in the bottom right of the back plate of the movement. Two of the three wind springs feel sound when keyed. The left one that controls the??? Has a broken spring. The clock has not been running since we acquired it. Chimes hammers could use some adjustment to strike rod for a better sound. The clock has the pendulum bob (do not think original one), and will come with a wind key. The 5 rod gong unit is in place and securely attached to the case. The clock has a Westminster Chime’s unit. The clock chimes every 15 minutes, and then will chime and strikes on the hour. This is a five rod chime/strike unit. The Junghans Mantel Clock stands 16-5/8″ tall, by 12.25″ across, by 8-5/8 wide. The clock face is 5.25 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, We would suggest you steer clear.
Winterhalder & Hofmeier Small Desk Clock Westminster Chimes with Balance Wheel Run
Antique Winterhalder & Hofmeier Small Desk Clock Westminster Chimes w/ Balance Wheel Movement. Runs, Strikes and Chimes. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Very unique, uncommon, and rare clock example here from Winterhalder & Hofmeier. First the size, this clock is only 8.75 tall, Secondly, this is a balance wheel movement, have never seen a W&H clock that was not powered by a pendulum. The clock dates to the 1910 period from what we have researched online. The diminutive size would have it fall into the category of a desk clock. This clock is much more rare and unique than those clocks. Check out the beautiful curved top on the clock. The case is all intact, with the exception of the carving at the peak of the case. Not sure if carving like rest of case just fell off, or if there was a piece mounted to the front top of the clock at one time. Some minor finish loss to the case. The rear wood door is in place as is the latch mechanism. The red fabric is in place on the inside of the door. The 4 brass like doughnut feet are also still in place on the clock case. Show some finish loss. Beautiful mahogany case on this clock. The clock face is silver with black numbers. Some moderate loss of finish around the wind holes. The bezel is securely attached to the case by the hinge. The beveled glass in the bezel is intact, no cracking or blistering. The front door is very thick with a brass surround, securely attached to the case by the hinges. The movement looks good. The three wind springs feel sound when keyed. The clock will come with a wind key. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order. The clock has a Westminster Chime’s unit. The clock chimes every 15 minutes, and then chime and strikes on the hour. This is a five gong wire unit. The Winterhalder & Hofmeier Clock stands 8.75″ tall, by 6.75″ across, by 5.5″ (5-7/8″ with door latch) wide. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Some information about the clock maker. It was further manifested from 1850 under the new name Winterhalder & Hofmeier. In 1869 the company was renamed M. Winterhalder & Hofmeier, Friedenweiler und Schwaerzenbach, in Neustadt. From 1908 the new name was M. Winterhalder & Hofmeier GmbH. The company was part of the Black Forest clockmaker industry as its factory was located in Titisee-Neustadt and surroundings and as it subscribed to high quality standards. The company existed until 1933 (A Jewish owned company put out of business by Hitler’s Nazi Germany). W&H is regarded as one of the finest Victorian clockmakers of the time. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it.
