Antique Georgian Compass ca. 1820's in hinged Mahogany Case travel pocket WORKS
Antique Georgian Compass ca. 1820’s in hinged Mahogany Case travel pocket WORKS. Its a impressive Antique Georgian Compass ca. 1820’s in hinged Mahogany Case that has a wonderful Victorian design for 200 year old pocket compass. I looked high and low for any type of maker but I wasn’t able find anything. It does feature the Fleur De Lis symbol at the top and based on a google search, this compass dates to sometime around the 1820’s. The condition is excellent for something of this age!! The label inside is excellent with no staining, the glass is damage free but it is a little loose and it’s set in by a brass ring. The case I believe is Mahogany wood with odd Triangle shaped brass 3 barrel hinges. The front is missing the hook to close the close. The overall size, when closed, is 2.25″ across, 2.25″ deep and just about 1 thick. And the compass even points north as well!! There is a small pin the releases the needle when opened and locks it in place when the lid is closed. Speaking of the needle, it appears to be BLUED metal and has N and S engraved into the top. The entryway in my house has a bronze compass placed inside the slat flooring and I took a picture of this compass next to that one. A very nice early Georgian pocket compass!!! My goal is your satisfaction. I aim to please! These charges are the buyers responsibility. THANK YOU AND HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY! Powered by SixBit’s eCommerce Solution.
