Antique Wood General Store Counter Display Case Box For Watches Beveled Glass. My father picked this up on one of his antiquing trips a long time ago. I will try and describe this to the best of my abilities. This wood counter top case could have been used to display pocket watches or some other quality merchandise – so mething that would fit in the 1 3/4″ by 1 1/4″ rectangular spots. This is a quality made showcase. The front drawer is for decoration purposes only and is missing its two pulls / knobs. I believe the glass top is original and it is beveled. The case itself sits at an angle. The measurements from tallest to shortest on the height – approx. It is 13 1/2″ wide and 9 1/2″ deep. The top display drawer is (interior measurement) just under 11″ by 7 3/4″ and maybe 3/4 deep. The second drawer is (interior again) just under 11″ by 7 3/4″ and 1 3/4″ at the back, at the lowest, to 3″. Some of the corners are dovetailed and some are nailed at flat planes. The ingenious “locking mechanism” for t. He top back drawer is a hat pin. This was probably a later though, and not original, for the case but thought up by some.
